Theodoros Koumartzis. Revival of the ancient Lyre

"Reviving the ancient Greek Lyre should be for everybody and not just a few, and this is what we are trying to do" says Lyrist Theodoros Koumartzis. He feels that this is a space and chance for musicians from all over the world to present their music outside the idea of what is commercial and what is widely acceptable. Together with his father and brother, their study of the ancient Greek literature has been the inspiration behind the revival of this beautiful instrument. He says the most important way to introduce this instrument to the world is by communication, by accepting that they don't know all their is to know about this ancient instrument. They are also working together with music therapists, phycologists, amateur musicians, professors at the university from all over the world to share knowledge about the ancient Greek mythology and music. For Theodoros it's also an applied philosophy and it's not just about one thing. By adding all these steps together they have managed to create a musical community and in this way it is possible to reach more people to have the possibility to know about the beautiful music of the ancient Lyre.
