Kobus Rossouw - Lighting designer: The importance of stage lighting.
Kobus Rossouw, lighting designer, was born in South Africa. He has worked with many directors including Brett Bailey, Martinus Basson, Christine Crouse, Angelo Gobbato, Ilse van Hemert, Janice Honeyman, Geoffrey Hyland, Ralph Lawson, Roy Sargeant and Paul Stern. He most recently designed the lighting for Cape Town Opera’s Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Manon (Massenet), Show Boat (Kern), Treemonisha (Joplin), productions that were presented both in Cape Town and in many international tours. As Technical Production Manager he presented productions in Australia, France, Germany, Norway, Scotland, South Africa and Switzerland. Most recently he was responsible for the Technical Direction of Pieter Toerien and Hazel Feldmans’s production of Disney’s High School Musical. He has won a FNB Vita award for the lighting design for the play Die Jogger.
