Concert pianist Charl du Plessis - Opening doors to classical music.
"I realised that an audience member does have a comfort in listening to something they recognise " says concert pianist Charl du Plessis. He tells the wonderful story of how he would play for his parents in preparation for his piano exams or competitions. By their reaction and comments, he realised that audiences would also like to hear something that is known to them and that they could recognise. Charl says that the effect of hearing something familiar should never be underestimated and the feeling achieved through music, is something money can't buy. Buy playing different genres, he has been able to established himself as a musician in South Africa who can be part of many different projects and concerts. Charl believes that music should be more inclusive and with his trio, they are taking classical music and making a jazz versions of it.
