Dancer Brandon Carpio - From Karate kid to Ballet boy

My first interview for 2022 is with the young dancer Brandon Carpio. From initially doing Karate, he was encouraged to do ballet and the moment he got in the studio he loved it. He is talking about how the experience of doing Karate and the quality of the movements, helped when he eventually started doing ballet. Brandon believes that teaching dance in schools could be very beneficial for all children and would ensure that their are no misconceptions of boys doing ballet. After finishing high school and doing ballet training after school, Brandon was fortunate to be able to train for 4 years at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance with the internationally renowned choreographer William Forsythe. He valued training and realised that being trained in all these different genres, and discovered the style of dancing that he feels passionate about. He is currently dancing at Tampa City Ballet company

Brandon loves to improvise and I had the privilege to see him dancing at the end of the interview. Thank you Brandon for this wonderful performance.
