Andre Morgenthal - The Old vine Project, South Africa

"Old vine wines don't necessarily show the varietal characteristics, but it shows site" says Andre Morgenthal from the Old vine Project. These wines express where they come from and this is what makes the wines made from the old vines so unique, explains Andre. Together with Rosa Kruger, who initially started the project, they work tirelessly to raise awareness to the importance of preserving the old vines. Andre is also talking about the research that is currently done to try and give scientific proof that it is important to preserve the old vines, not only because of the unique wines, but also because of environmental protection and sustainable wine farming. With this project, a lot is also being done in the farming community for farmworkers regarding education and better working conditions. Look out for the Old vine Label to know that you are not just drinking unique wine, but also adding to a wonderful story with many people involved.
